A Wedding at the Grain Exchange
Kristin & John are married!
The Grain Exchange (also known as the Mackie Building) in downtown Milwaukee is an iconic building. When it was constructed in 1879, I wonder if they could possible predict the future what it is today. The building was built for the purpose of, well, grain! Enormous amounts of wheat passed through the port of Milwaukee and the Mackie Building. Inside the Mackie Building was a sunken, tiered pit called the “Grain Exchange” where the price of wheat was set. Milwaukee’s grain exchange came to an end as Chicago grew to become the bigger and bigger with the rail system transportation. But, like so many buildings in Milwaukee, the Grain Exchange has held on to it’s charm, it’s beautiful and detailed paintings. Today, it’s one of the cities most sought-after wedding venues!
Come to July of 2018, Kristin & John selected the Grain Exchange for their own wedding venue. They were drawn to all things mentioned above. They even said, walking into the Grain Exchange and “seeing the venue for the first time was a (very pleasant) surprise!” Their most favorite moment of the day though? The First Look.
Although Kristin & John had Amanda Felsman of Tailored Engagements (one of the best) to help them plan all the fine details, they have some of the best advice for future brides and grooms:
We constantly reminded ourselves:”don’t look back”! Wedding trends change constantly, and its so important to remember that none of that really matters. Feel confident about your vision, and embrace the authenticity and style that comes from the decisions that you make together as a couple.
Congratulations Kristin & John (our mosquito warriors)!
