Lauren & John are married! Their entire day was at Morgan Manufacturing in Chicago. Special thanks to Stephanie at The Creative Planners!

We hit the road for Chicago early Saturday morning. It was just a week into the new year and things were… cold. When we left Milwaukee, the temperature read 4°. By the time we got into Chicago, it was at a boiling 15°. Shannon met the gals at Lauren’s brother and sister-in-law’s home where they were being pampered by Arch Apothecary and Brooke Klay. The gents’ were casually hanging out at The Langham where TJ met them.

In 1885, Chicago gave the world its first skyscraper, the 10-story Home Insurance Building. Today, the skyscrapers and architectural design make this city a dream to photograph in. Lauren, John and their wedding party braved the cold for some classic Chicago backdrops. After everyone thawed, we headed to Morgan Manufacturing for an emotional ceremony followed by an energetic reception.

When we asked Lauren & John their favorite part of the day, they simply said, “The ceremony”. If you weren’t there, let us tell you, it was beyond sentimental. They brought in John’s childhood pastor and had readings from aunts and their sister-in-law. If there was a dry-eye in the place, we didn’t see it.

If they had to give advice to future brides and grooms, Lauren and John agreed, “(Do a) fast engagement! There is no need to meet with a million different vendors – just go with your gut! Have open conversations about what your priorities are and spend the majority of your budget on those things (even when people give you their opinion on what should be important). Delegate if you can. You can’t control the whole day.” Wise, wise words.
