The planning that goes into a wedding takes a village. Some couples use a wedding planner to help out, others tackle it all on their own. Sometimes it’s a mix of help from friends and family. Regardless of how much you plan, things can and will go askew.

On Friday morning before Lauren & Micah’s wedding, I heard my phone vibrate at 6AM. An email from Lauren with the subject: wedding tomorrow. Her dad had been hospitalized for an internal infection and we changed the day around to visit him in the hospital after the First Look.

On the morning of the wedding, Lauren informed us her dad obtained a “day pass” and was able to leave the hospital for a few hours. He greeted us at the Milwaukee Art Museum for family portraits and left shortly after the ceremony. Lauren said, “having my dad make it to the ceremony and being able to walk down the aisle with him (was my favorite part of the day).” Lauren & Micah both said “the feeling the love from all our family and friends was the best”.

Their wedding story was a little unique but Lauren & Micah took home some great advice to pass on to other couples:

Trust your vendors the day of your wedding. Let the little details go because it really doesn’t matter in the big picture of how you remember the day. Just be in the moment and have fun with everyone who came to celebrate you.

Even with all the background noise, Lauren & Micah’s day was perfect. Their friends and family gathered around them and celebrated their love. These two have been on so many adventures together but this is their greatest.

Congratulations Lauren & Micah!
