Amanda & Peter | Midwest Wedding Photography

Amanda & Peter are married!  Their entire day was held at Western Lakes Golf Course.

We have been excited for this wedding for a long time.  One and a half years, to be exact.  On December 19, 2014 Shannon’s very good family friend, Peter proposed to Amanda.  Peter & Amanda met in May of 2013 through Amanda’s cousin.  It wasn’t soon after when Peter introduced Amanda to our family.  We immediately loved her, just like Peter does. We’ve actually never seen him happier, than when he is with her. That winter, we were all thrilled to learn the two were engaged!  Peter planned a nice night in with sushi and watching White Christmas. As Amanda set up the movie, she turned around to find Peter on one knee.  Amanda said, “Needless to say they never watched White Christmas that night and ended up going out and celebrating with family and friends!”

When Peter and Amanda asked me (Shannon) to photograph, I was thrilled.  Because of our profession, we often turn down invitations to friends weddings as we’re already booked.  For Peter and Amanda though, we had the highest honor of photographing. I even got to spend the day with my family.  Not only is Peter like my third brother, but my dad officiated and my older brother, Justin, was an usher!

Seeing their day unfold was beautiful.  For them, they said their favorite part of the day was the First Look. “It gave us time to just be with each other before the party began to relax! It calmed our nerves… making the ceremony smooth sailing!”  There were, however, a few surprises on the big day. Peter said his biggest surprise was when Amanda’s Nephew, Eddie, carried a sign down the aisle that read, “Uncle Petey, Here comes your girl”.  For him, it first brought laughter and then tears. For Amanda, it was getting flowers from Peter at the salon while getting her hair and makeup done, then being handed another card and gift from Amanda’s sister that Peter perfectly planned.

Their advice to future brides & grooms is to keep it simple. They said, “… stay true to who you both are as a couple. It’s not all about the bells and whistles, it’s about the two of you and what YOU like. Your day will be perfect as long as you have your partner by your side and the people you love there! Take a minute to just step back and watch everything that is going on, it goes too fast!”
