Liz & Stew | A Midwest Lake Engagement

share /

Liz and Stew met each other at the orientation for a Masters in Physiology program at Loyola University Chicago. The entire program had 13 students in it.  Naturally, they all spent a lot of time together. Over the school year, Liz and Stew became good friends but a few months in, Stew realized he had feelings for Liz.  Since they were both freshly out of relationships, Stew gave Liz some time before dropping the ball on her.  Stew said, “I must have waited too long because by March of 2012, Liz had gotten up the courage to tell me she wanted to be more than just friends. At that point, I already knew I was in love and gladly reciprocated!”

Their first date was a surprise Stew planned. He picked her up and took her to a lovely restaurant in Oak Park called Marion Street Cheese Market. Liz said, “Stewart doesn’t like cheese, but he knew that cheese was the way to a Wisconsin girl’s heart! Too cheesy?”

After hanging out with these two earlier this week, anyone can quickly see how perfect they are together.  They have great chemistry and their personalities bounce well off of each other. As we drove out to Oconomowoc to meet Liz & Stew, it began raining.  Liz & Stew couldn’t have possibly been better sports about the rain.  After a beer at a local brewery, we headed to Liz’s parents beautiful lake home.  Despite the rain, they were comfortable… they were home.  They showed us around Liz’s childhood home, took us by the lake and out to the tennis courts.  We had umbrellas but Liz & Stew said, “oh, we’re fine!”

We’re excited to photograph their wedding next spring at the nearby Oconomowoc Lake Club.  Until then, take a peek at their one-of-a-kind engagement session.
