Marie & Aaron | Lakefront Brewery Milwaukee, WI

share /

In 2010, the month of August was a busy one for me.  I had 6 weddings in that month alone.  This year because I took on fewer weddings, couldn’t have been any more of a contrast.  Marie and Aaron’s wedding is the only one I had all month and it was at Lakefront Brewery.  Now as anyone who has gotten married in Milwaukee knows, booking your reception at Lakefront Brewery is one of the hardest things to do.  It’s a very popular place that books out well over a year in advance.  When Marie and Aaron approached me about shooting their wedding there, I knew I wanted to be a part of this.

All week, the weather report said rain… and lots of it.  When I talked to Marie earlier in the week, I mentioned to her that out of my five years photographing weddings, I’ve had a bit of rain but never has it rained so much that we couldn’t take pictures outside.  Of course, when I woke up that Saturday, it was pouring and miserable.  I thought for sure my run was over.  But by noon, all the rain was gone and it turned out to be an absolutely beautiful day.  We still almost had a disaster though.. well I almost had one.  At one point in the day, my camera strap somehow came undone sending my camera, with flash attached, toward the ground.  When it hit, I could immediately see that the flash was broken.  Luckily, I carry a back up flash otherwise I don’t know what I would have done.  Let this be a lesson to all prospective brides, make sure you ask your photographer if they carry back up equipment!

Anyway, even with the early rain and broken camera, things turned out perfectly.  Take a look at how I saw Marie and Aaron’s day.
