Kate & Ryan | A Bishop’s Bay Wedding

share /

Kate & Ryan are married!

University of Wisconsin holds a special place in Kate & Ryan’s heart. It’s where they met while on the rowing team. Incorporating Lake Mendota into their wedding day was really important. When it came time to planning, they knew Bishops Bay was the spot. They would be married along the lake with the capital building in the background and the water crashing along the rocks. As we made plans with them, we asked “Is there a backup ceremony spot in case of rain?” Their answer was always, “yes, but we’re just going to go for it. Rain or shine.”

The day came and the weather wasn’t completely cooperating. Even though we put in a request with Mother Nature, their early fall day was pretty stormy.  Kate & Ryan though, cool as cucumbers. They knew they wanted to get married along the lake and nothing was stopping them. Not incredibly strong winds, not tornado warnings, not rain. This was happening.

Even though the waters were pretty rough, Ryan arrived to the ceremony via boat. A friend brought him in, he jumped onto the dock and made the best groom entrance we’ve ever seen. It wasn’t the cool temps that gave everyone goosebumps. It was how cool Ryan looked! Kate was able to watch from the building. She said it was her favorite part of the day! Ryan said his favorite part of the day was the First Look.

At the end of the day, their advice to future brides & grooms is “Don’t worry about things you can’t control, everything will work out and everyone will have fun! Also leave some time the day of to just relax a bit.”
