Christina & Jack are married! They got married at St. Jude the Apostle Parish and the celebration continued at the Wisconsin Club.
These two met their freshman year of college. They were in the same dorm at UW-Madison. From the story we heard at speeches, it was a little more involved and included possibly some Facebook stalking. No judgement here! In 2014, Jack planned a trip to Milwaukee for a New Year’s Eve celebration. After a few cocktails, they headed to Mason Street Grill for dinner. Jack had planned to wait until dessert to propose, but couldn’t wait. When they were seated, Jack insisted on ordering champagne even though Christina isn’t a huge fan. He asked the waiter to take a picture of them toasting and had Christina get in the booth next to him. There was an quick disagreement about whose camera to use, because Christina’s phone had a cracked screen or something. We ended up using Jack’s phone to take a picture much to his dismay. When the waiter was about to take the picture, Jack scooted out of the booth and got down on one knee, and asked Christina to marry him. Of course, she said “yes!”. And all of their pictures of the moment are tinted purple from Jack’s dysfunctional camera.
When we first met Christina & Jack, they were in the process of moving to Ellison Bay, Wisconsin for a job at Island Orchard Cider. We ended up doing their engagement session there and it was one of our favorites to date. Just before their wedding, we got news that they would be moving to Indiana. The week of their wedding, they packed up their Ellison Bay house and drove to Milwaukee to tie-the-knot. What a whirlwind!
Because of the stated facts above, it wasn’t surprising when their advice to future brides and grooms was, “During the planning process you might be tempted to elope, several times. It wouldn’t be that bad of a choice. But know that in the end it’s all worth it and you’re going to have the best, most memorable day of your lives. Enjoy every single moment. Because it all goes so fast.”
Their favorite part of the day was “Walking out of the church hand in hand as husband and wife for the first time, past all of our smiling and crying friends and family members.” They also added that “Having our friend Ishan Daya as our cantor was one of the most special touches to our day. We both teared up hearing him sing. I don’t think I’ve ever heard a cantor receive a round of applause in a church before.” We haven’t either but after hearing him sing… wow!
A week leading up to the wedding, we received a voicemail from Jack’s mother. She was surprising Christina and Jack with a Bucky Badger appearance. We made sure it was on our timeline and were prepared for the surprise moment. Bucky always brings down the house! Christina said, “we had no idea! She kept it a secret and booked it more than a year in advance!”
What a wedding! Without further ado, here’s how we saw their day…
