Mimi & Alex are married!
We can’t write a blog post anymore without confronting the current state of affairs and the pandemic we’re all fighting. A lot of couples have decided to postpone, some have continued with plans. It seems that everyone is trudging forward in the best way they know how!
Mimi had some great advice for couples going into “pandemic wedding planning”. Here she is:
Don’t think it’s weird to prioritize safety! We very much support everyone in making their own choice on whether to postpone, downsize, or continue with their weddings. We made the decision to have our event, then did everything we could think of to try to make it as safe for people to be there as possible. We had signage asking guests to wear masks throughout the entire event, assigned seating for the ceremony to keep households together and as distant from others as possible, turned our place cards into “place masks,” and made ribbon pins for guests to wear and indicate their comfort level with interaction so we and other guests could respect everyone’s boundaries (without having to have the “are we hugging?” conversation a million times), and kept table size to 4-5 at 10-tops with a personal hand sanitizer at each place. There were moments when we thought our guests would look at us like we were crazy people, or that our wedding wouldn’t end up being the event we envisioned, but everyone went along without question, we got a lot of positive feedback for looking out for our guests, and didn’t miss a thing from the “old normal”.
Mimi & Alex were – by far – the most prepared and thoughtful hosts! All of their guests wanted to be there for them and they were in the safest, best ways possible. It almost felt like we stepped back into 2019. People let their hair down, kept their masks on and had a great time celebrating! Not one, but THREE groomsmen ripped even their pants while dancing.
These two didn’t separate hips at all during the day either. From the First Look on, they were side-by-side. Alex said his favorite parts of the day was “Right after the ceremony when Mimi and I took a few minutes to ourselves before the cocktail hour, and the elevator rides with her during cocktails. Or pictures with Mimi, as that was the first time I saw her all day and I loved just being with just her.” Can we hear a big, communal aww?
Mimi & Alex, Congratulations!!
