Joanna & Cameron | A Northwoods Wedding in Crandon at Johnnie’s Resort

share /

Jo & Cam are married!

When two Washington DC reporters contacted us for their wedding in Laona, Wisconsin, we said, “tell us more”. How did they end up with a northern Wisconsin wedding location?! After chatting with Jo & Cam, we learned Jo’s family has a little oasis in northern Wisconsin on Wabikon Lake. The property has a few homes on the property and a good ol’ local drinking hole. Insert: Johnnie’s Resort. The area is such a special spot for Jo and her family (and eventually Cam, too), having the wedding there seemed to make sense.

These two said it was stressful to figure it all out from a distance, but it was all worth it. Jo & Cam had about 70 people from around the country travel to celebrate them in small-town Laona. They arrived by planes, trains, and automobiles. Okay, and shuttles too. The legend of Johnnies came to life.

Through the images, you’ll see Duke, a big, white, fluffy Akita. Duke’s best friend is Muskie, who owns Johnnies. Muskie is Jo’s uncle. Are you following me? Muskie officiated the wedding and did a mighty fine job. Especially fielding Jo when she forgot her written vows (she went straight from the heart and blew guests away). Anyway, Duke roams the property. Jo said Duke usually keeps to himself and is sometimes a wild card. On the wedding day, he wanted to be front and center. Where the action was, so was Duke. Let’s just say, he was the best four-legged party boi there. 14/10.

It’ll be hard to beat this day in northern Wisconsin!

Congratulations Jo & Cam!
