TJ has a weather theory. It originated from a crazy neighbor many moons ago. The theory goes, with every seasonal change, the weather goes into a 6.80 day pattern. So, if it rains on a Saturday, it’ll rain for the next several Saturdays. Every time he talks to me about this, I say “you’re crazy man”. And then the theory comes true. Take Amy & Tyler’s wedding for example. It rained two weekend before and the forecast for their Saturday in Lake Geneva was looking a little dicey.
We drove through pouring rain as we headed from Milwaukee to Lake Geneva. The forecast called for rain the entire day but the radar showed something different. I took ONE meteorology class in college. But, everyone, I turned into Stephanie Abrams that day.
When we arrived at Grand Geneva, I met up with Amy and she talked to me about the plans of the day. I said, “I think we’re going to be in the clear after 2:00 PM.” I said it and it happened! We were able to do the first look outside, wedding and family photographs but Amy & Tyler opted to move the wedding ceremony indoors to the Chalet. It’s a good thing because the humidity spiked to 90%. It was sticky sticky sticky! Amy & Tyler said they were both surprised the heat!
They were also surprised at Amy’s first dance with her dad (it switched from Eric Clapton to Amie by Pure Prairie League) and Tyler’s vows!
Some other favorite parts of the day for Tyler were seeing Amy and everyone he loves in one spot, and cocktail hour. For Amy, it was “seeing Tyler at the end of the aisle and everyone that took the time to be there with us! AND the saxophonist, Robert!!!”
We loved Amy & Tyler’s day and especially appreciated how much they went with the flow. Their advice to future couples is: Let go of the societal expectations, social media pressure, etc. You’re celebrating not only your love & marriage but also all of the people who have supported you along the way.
