Courtney & Eric are married!
When Courtney & Eric began planning their wedding, there was no question where they’d have their day. These two are water people. They live on a lake, they sail and boat. They find themselves by water constantly. So, they’d prepare their day at Courtney’s parents home on Lower Nashotah Lake. Between their home and two doors down, Courtney’s godmother’s home, the close destination wedding was perfect.
The ceremony was held with the lake in the background. Fifty chairs were set up for some guests but the others gathered around the parameter of the yard. It felt so welcoming and cozy. Very shortly after the ceremony began, a light rain sprinkle began and everyone looked up smiling. The surprise seemed to fit Courtney & Eric perfectly. Their very good friend Jon officiated the wedding and touched on personal events and stories between Courtney & Eric. These are our favorite kind of ceremonies! Incorporating friends and family promotes the most intimate atmosphere. The officiant Jon improvised his wedding script to end with: “May your love be like water, moving, constantly changing. Never still, never stagnant. As vast as the ocean and as fresh as a light August rain.”
Following the ceremony, everyone walked two homes down where a tent was set up for a good ol’ backyard wedding. Except, this wasn’t your typical backyard wedding. The tent was positioned perfectly next to the garage-turned-bar. The home patio walkway lead to another tent where a dance floor was set up. It would later fill with guests dancing to the band. Another wooden patio held cocktail tables and lavender sprigs and lead down to the lake. Hidden Kitchen MKE was set up in the driveway, connecting to a third tent which held some of the best food we’d had! Surrounding the yard was wild flowers and mature trees. You could see the stars and moon. It really was a magnificent backyard wedding. It was everything Courtney & Eric wanted.
Congratulations Courtney & Eric!
